Curriculum is defined as… “the sum total of experiences, activities, and events, whether
direct or indirect, which occur within an environment designed to foster children’s learning and development.”
(Te Whaariki: Early childhood curriculum, Ministry of Education, 1996, p10).
Levin Baptist Kindergarten aims to provide a quality, caring leaning environment.
Kindy is a community-based centre that reflects Christian principles, where educators share a philosophy that all children are special and therefore provide an environment where everyone is encouraged to be kind, caring and respectful. We foster Christian values through
Christian songs, Bible stories and singing grace before mealtimes.
Educators plan to meet individual children’s interests and abilities through providing an environment where children are given opportunities to explore, succeed and learn in their own way. Resources and equipment in our centre support and encourage children’s learning through group activities, teacher-child interactions, peer to peer and individual learning.
As ERO stated – “Parents and families are valued partners in their children’s education and care. Their feedback is sought in many aspects of the kindergarten operations. Parents and their children demonstrate a sense of belonging in the Kindergarten.”
